In light of Governor Gregg Abbott’s recent executive order concerning COVID-19 and local orders in Harris County concerning social distancing, we will be modifying our worship services to a “drive-in” style worship service for Sunday, March 29, 2020.

We pray that these modifications will both meet the spiritual needs and convictions of our members while also protecting our physical health and complying with the new order.

We will have two abbreviated worship services in the church parking lot (each accommodating 10 vehicles) with the first beginning at 9:30 am and the second beginning at 10:00 am. Vehicles will be spaced with an empty parking spot between each vehicle. We ask that everyone please remain in your vehicles so that we are following the social distancing guidelines.

This 20-30 minute service will consist of partaking the Lord’s Supper, giving of our means, a short devotional message from scripture, a song or two and prayer. The Lord’s Supper will consist of individually pre-packaged fruit of the vine and unleavened bread and will be provided by DJ (who will be wearing a mask and gloves) so that we are following the guidelines as set out by the CDC.

We will have a sound system so that everyone will be able to hear the prayers, song leader, and message. You will also have the opportunity to give upon exiting.

Please contact Kensi via call or text (346) 233-3308 to let us know if you will be attending to reserve your time slot. She will have the spread sheet and will be keeping track of who is scheduled for when.

Those who are sick are still encouraged to stay home and those who feel that their immune system is in a compromised state and may be at risk, please do what you feel is best.

For those worshiping at home, a pre-recorded sermon video will be available on YouTube, our Facebook page, and our website here. If you need help accessing this, please let us know.

Sunday evening services (March 29) will be CANCELLED and supplemented with a pre-recorded sermon online that can be accessed via our website, social media and/or YouTube. We will send out the information on that via email once available.

Wednesday evening services/classes (April 1) will also be CANCELLED. and supplemented with a pre-recorded sermon online that can be accessed via our website, social media and/or YouTube. We will send out the information on that via email once available.

Note that this modification to our services will be in effect through April 3rd per the executive order given by Governor Abbott. At that time we will return to the regularly scheduled services unless there is an extension of the order.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email at info@laportechurchofchrist.com or call DJ at (346) 233-3309.
