Week of August 2, 2020 | Lesson 5 – Twelve Spies Sent into Canaan | Numbers 13-14

After the Israelites left Egypt, God showed His great power to the Israelites over and over. In spite of all the incredible things they had seen God do for them, they were still sometimes afraid. And when they were afraid, they didn’t trust God. This week we will learn about the 12 spies and what happened when God’s people were too afraid to obey Him. God can help me overcome problems and feelings (fear, uncertainty, etc.), if I trust Him and His great power.

How do you think God would feel if, after all He had done for them, the people decided to worship a golden statue instead of Him? I should never allow anything or anyone to be more important to me than God.

Week of July 5, 2020 | Lesson 1 – The 10 Commandments | Exodus 19-20, 24

When God brought the Israelites out of Egypt after many years of slavery, He knew that without rules they would not treat each other as they should, and they would forget how to worship Him. These rules to live by (laws) are in the Old Testament books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. This week we’re going to learn about some of these laws, which we call the Ten Commandments. We’ll also learn that God gives us rules (laws, commandments) in the Bible that He expects us to obey. He knows that we need His rules to help us get along with others and to be happy.

Week of June 28, 2020 | Lesson 13 – Love the Lord Your God & Your Neighbor as Yourself

The Bible lessons we have studied have taught us a lot about God’s love for the Israelites. He gave them a great leader, freed them from slavery in Egypt, gave them food and water in the desert, gave them clothes and shoes that did not wear out, and protected them from their enemies. God wanted the Israelite people to love Him—and each other—because of everything He had done for them. I can show my love for God by the way I treat others.
