What to Expect

What to Expect

Whether you’re just passing through or are new to the area and seeking a church home, you are always welcome at LaPorte church of Christ.  When you visit our assemblies, you can expect to find a welcoming group of Christians seeking to honor and glorify God in their lives and through their worship.  You’ll see that our worship is God-centered and Bible-driven.

Singing

In every worship service, you can expect heartfelt singing of hymns and spiritual songs. We sing a cappella style, without instrumental accompaniment, following the simple example of our New Testament brethren. (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16)

Prayer

Public led prayers are offered during our assembly by appointed men of our congregation with humble appeals of request and thankfulness to God through Jesus Christ (Acts 2:42; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Preaching

A portion of each service is devoted to hearing a sermon from God's word. Sermons are presented in simple and easy to understand lessons and are designed to encourage, to build faith, and to teach Biblical truths. (Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7)

Lord's Supper

We partake of the Lord's Supper (unleavened bread and fruit of the vine) every Sunday in remembrance of Christ's death and sacrifice for our sins. (Acts 2:24; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

Contribution

We, as members, give a portion of what God has blessed us with to support the work of the church. Our guests are in no way obligated to give contribution. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

Fellowship

We enjoy having fellowship with one another, encouraging each other, and building each other up. You'll often find us visiting with members and visitors alike before and after services.

Frequently asked questions

Yes! We offer Bible classes for all ages from toddler through adult on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am and again on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.  Classes are designed to help us gain a better knowledge of the Bible in a smaller group setting.

If you have a child and are visiting with us, we will be sure to help you find your child’s classroom and introduce you and them to their teacher to ease any nervousness.

While many of our members choose to dress in traditional attire (dresses, coat, tie, etc.), we also have members and visitors who dress more casually.

No matter what you choose to wear, you will find that we welcome everyone!
